Luxury super-yachts going super cheap

Dan MatthewsThere aren’t many things you can buy that come with a £8m discount, but the super-yacht market is through the floor currently and you could pick up just such a bargain.

The crunch-stricken super-rich are selling off their toys at rock-bottom prices. Take the 164ft floating palace the Alibella (pictured):Alibella

Was - €33m

Now - €24.5m

That’s £21m in Brit money – a snip! Still out of your price range? Well according to this article in The Guardian you can take your pick from a host of even cheaper, though almost as palatial, dreadnaughts.

At  €13.7m there’s the 163ft Thunder B, which comes complete with a seven-metre swimming pool. It’s discounted €5.2m.

Then there’s the 150ft ‘bullet-proof’ Midlandia, which has an outdoor cinema and a price tag just shy of €20m, down from €27m before the crunch.

Still a bit dear? Take the shirt off me back why don’t you!? Okay, how about a quarter off a Jaguar XJS? Ten per cent off a Volkswagen Golf? Right, final offer: 15 per cent off a Ford Fiesta.
